Did you know?…

A baby’s birth weight and health are contingent on the body composition of a woman when she conceives. For example, If a woman is overweight or obese when she conceives, her pregnancy may be considered high risk and can potentially lead to the fetus receiving an overabundance of a specific nutrient which can cause their fat calls to grow large rapidly and/or develop an abnormal amount of fat cells. Conversely, if a woman is under-weight at the time of conception, she puts herself at great risk for having a premature birth and an underweight baby due to undernutrition, etc.

This is why it is imperative for women to understand the importance of self-care before trying to get pregnant. Self-care applies to proper nutrition, physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health. This applies before, during, and even after pregnancy. A healthy woman is a foundation for a healthy family if and whenever your path leads you there.

Having an ideal body composition BEFORE pregnancy means you will be ready and able to provide a fetus with an optimal nutrient-rich growing environment during the most crucial stages of growth and development. The first 2 weeks of gestation are when the baby’s brain and vital organs develop which is before most women know they are even pregnant.

Pre-babY FITNESS

A female’s body requires specific nutrients in the appropriate amounts that change throughout her life. As a teen goes through puberty, her hormones change causing her body to change which leads to changes in nutritional needs. Around this time she will develop new taste preferences for foods that can very easily be influenced by her environment. If she is well educated about her own nutritional needs and how to obtain them from foods she is more likely to be strong in her ability to resist the high calorie, poor nutrient food options surrounding her. If she has been taught the importance of taking care of her body inside and out throughout her upbringing, she can eventually be a positive influence by sharing health knowledge with others and start changing lives.

Our bodies were made to move. We were blessed with the ability to use our bodies to accomplish great things. We are only given one body however and if we fail to take care of it properly, it will eventually quit on us. It only makes sense to make your health a priority if you want to experience all life has to offer. You rely on good health to do everything and without it, there’s very little you can do. A successful and exciting life is only possible when you are in good health and you actually have a lot of control in ensuring you are healthy enough to do everything you can imagine. The physical activity recommendation for Americans is 30 minutes to an hour of your time a few times a week. A small investment for an unimaginable lifelong reward that will benefit more than just yourself but generations to follow.

When you start a fitness and nutrition program you start giving yourself the love and respect that you deserve and your life begins to change in the best ways because of it.
